Take another look at that gun. Make sure the gun is unloaded, then cock the hammer and look in the gap in front of the hammer. You should see a rectangular piece of steel in the front below the point the hammer would hit. You should be able to release the hammer and let the trigger go slowly and see that block move up a little before the hammer blocks your view.
