Couple of thoughts. You can use moderate loads with match bullets and get excellent paper-punching results. Also, ball powders are generally thought to give less barrel wear over the long term. There is info on this in the literature, but sorry I can't give a reference off top of my head. You can check out powder descriptions in various loading manuals.
