What a rifle does from the bench is not necessarily what it WILL do under field conditions with a human shooting. However, groups from a bench do in fact show what the rifle is capable of. That is very important.

I wonder if some of those who say otherwise are the same ones who say, "I don't do so well on the range shooting at targets, but when I shoot at game I am an excellent shot."

Who believes the truth of that except the speaker who has deceived himself?
