.380 AND 9mm!
.380 is a 9mm but it's not THE 9mm. (nominal .380 = 9mm) Kurz is German for Short and it has the same type relationship to a 9mm as a .22 Short has to a .22 Long Rifle (the round most people mean when they talk about a "twenty-two". As mlk18 said the .380 (9mm Kurz) is a 9mm (diameter) X 17mm (length) round vs. the 9mm Parabellum (AKA 9mm Luger) which is 9 X 19.
Physically, the 9mm Para is too long to fit into a .380 gun/magazine. Probably a good thing since .380's aren't designed for the power of the Parabellum.
