Don't let just the cartridge dictate which is right for you. Consider the platform as well. With that said .40 S&W is easier to live with and feed at least here in the States. The pistols tend to be more handy and more proven platforms to choose from. Unless you have a real need for full power 10mm ballistics (you know for sure you will be coming up against intermediate barriers all the time like auto glass OR dangerous animals and can't pack a .44 Mag all the time). For me, there's really only one 10mm auto out there for long term hard use, the Glock 20 or 20SF.

How easy or difficult is it to get quality 10mm ammo over there?
