Kraig, this is just not true unless you have a larger OD barrel to begin with. Jim mentioned that in barrels of the
same weight the fluted one will be more rigid, and that's true. Take a barrel with a slightly heavier contour and flute that and you can achieve a barrel that is both lighter and more rigid (there's a win/win in there; but is it worth the effort and coin? dunno fer you, it isn't fer me).
