I just weighed my camp carbine and with a nylon sling on it, it weighs 6.75 pounds. My marlin 1894 44mag weighs 6.5 pounds with a leather sling. I don't know if thats heavy to you or not but I never seem to notice it.
My favorite BP hawken in 45 caliber weighs just over 9 pounds. You never forget you have it slung.
