I have a friend who owns one, he paid a dude 60 bucks for it for kicks. After handling the real one, there really is no comparison in terms of optical and mechanical quality. This is assuming we are talking about the Mark 4 counterfeits.
I liked my Simmons better than his knockoff.
I would consider investing into a decent scope. I can't imagine repair costs would be much less than the price for a new piece of decent glass.
