You'd get fewer rounds but lighter weight and more punch with the 642, plus as near 100% reliability as any gun can give. I prefer the steel Centennials and have no trouble pocket carrying one, but the 642 is a huge seller for a reason. And .38 Special +P is just a harder hitter.
