My .270 did not like boat-tails or heavy bullets.

I sure miss 300-600 yard prairie dogs. I don't think I ever hit any at 600 but it was sure fun. you could pop over to the spotting scope before the bullet hit. Ohio has you stuck at 100 yards, maybe 200. I'm loading for kids so I'm conducting the following experiment. Factory 130 grn Winchester Super X up against:

44/46/48 grns (trickled-48 on the Hodgdon page) of Varget on 130 grain Sierra/Nosler Trophy/Speer Grand Slam. --- Cus, you know…. Snow.

I’m looking for a best group and tightest 3 groups, if it is ½” spread between loads at 100 yards, I will not have to trickle that load and just press on the progressive. Right now it throws worst case +/- .3, most usually +/- .1. I'll get my nephew gunned up for a trip out west this summer with a few 100 rounds of whatever works, zeroed at the furthest possible. Plenty far for PDs.

I'm surprised at all the heavy bullets here. They did not fly well for me. I have some 140s & 150s but there is no 150 data for Varget.
