Uh, long time reader, first time poster. (please don't rip me to shreds!)

But I feel (after reading TFL for so long) that the only reason no one other than Sig (who makes a fantastic and, IMO, better gun than Glock) is competing wih Glock in the poll is because 1911's are made by all different manufacturers and all fans of said 1911s have their own company preference, be it S&W or (shudder) Kimber, Springfield or Colt, Brown, LB or Wilson.

If votes could be recast based on model and not brand I think we'd see a definite shift towards the good 'ol 1911 (especially on these forums).

BTW, I am not a plastic gun hater. When the zombies finally start tearing my house apart I'll probably reach for an HK or Glock.
