Turn counter clockwise to remove. There is no breech plug. The center barrel nipple threads into the recoil shield and there is a passage in the recoil shield to the center barrel.
You can use some spray cleaner like gunblaster, carb clean or brake clean to spray out this passage with out removing the center barrel. These types of spray cleaners can damage the wood finish so be sure the grips are off.
