CSOROCK, without being able to examine the rifle, plus, you and your friends are not too informed of them, I suggest you skip this deal. Vermont is a long way from San Diego. If the rifle is a dud, you've not only been taken but you've given faulty goods to a friend.
There are a number of good gun stores in your area where you can buy used guns, and if there's a problem, you can go back to the store.
