Well... covering it up with a stock mount does not remove or deface it... it just hides it. Really, I don't see this as a show stopper. Plus when you Form 1 a SBR as the manufacturer, don't you assign it a new number and need to engrave the name of the "new manufacturer" on it anyhow? Most people re-use the old number, but... add that same old number elsewhere and leave the hidden one in place so it's not "defaced".
