Another vote for the one SHE wants.
If she doesn't want one it will make no difference in the world.
If she is trained well with a .22 then I would think about these next.
I'm a big fan of a 4in .357 (train with .38's) for a newer shooter.
For an auto, lots of good options, the Stoeger Cougar in 9mm is great.
A mouse gun is not much good in a novice hand.
