That was one of the thoughts that came to me when I was comparing the two in the store. According to all the internet searching I've done, it seems to be pretty standard about what comes with certain years though. I know both types of mags will work in the newer (supposedly '72 and up) P64s but the older type (supposedly '69 which means '70 and '71 are in the dark) run reliably with the shorter feed lips. Without a short feedlip mag to use as a template to modify mine (if need be), I guess I'd be SOL.
