I lost my enthusiasm for shooting large game with a flinter, after spending an entire summer tweaking mine and feeling confident enough to take out for deer season, seeing a nice buck and pointing and pffffssssst, no boom

Anyone who would loose sleep over a miss-fire should not hunt with a flintlock.
Crazy thing is, I have carried mine all day long on rainy days here in MN and my rifle is very reliable, but when hunting in the mountains I have had many flashed pans, fuse actions (read pffffsssssst) and this year 2 miss-fires.
As long as I have a clean miss,miss-fire I am happy.
Heck, a well unplanned flash in the pan is not all that bad! All the excitement anyone could ask for and a reprieve from all that work!
Had the smoke pole out today for the 1st time since my hunt last month and it fired flawlessly.
The young lady is a nice visiting from Alaska. This was her first time firing a flintlock.
