I think that most do this but for those that don't, I recommend making a dummy round to make sure it will chamber in your gun. I do this for my semi-auto pistols. I remove the barrel and use it like a go/no go gauge. Also on my bolt action rifles I neck size a case just enough to hold a bullet snug then carefully chamber in the rifle and carefully remove and measure. I do this 2 or 3 times to verify. Back off .020 fro lans and grooves and start my load from there.
