Any suggestions for a good pin load in 45ACP? I'm just starting in this sport and I tried 200gr SWC at 900 fps last time but I'm thinking of heavier load to make sure pins do down with decent shots or lighter to get faster recovery time. Which way should I go?[/quote]
A 230 lead bullet at 900 fps works well. An added advantage is to use flat profile or semi wadcutter bullets. These tend to "bite " the pin a little better with less deflection than a standard round nosed bullet. In my experience, military hardball tends to richochet off the pins ,sometimes turning them or wobbling them with out knocking them off of the table.Remember to aim for the upperhalf of the pin. I've seen too many solid hits on the base fail to knock them down.
