When our kids were young, I used to keep a loaded shotgun in an electric police cruiser rack mounted on the wall by a door.

The release was out of sight, on top of the door frame, at my arms span from the rack. I purposely left the delay out of the circuit, so you had to push the button, and pull the gun from the rack at the same time.

I used an old commercial emergency back up light as a battery back up for the switch. Even if the power went down, the switch still worked.
