Best of Both Worlds

The bolt-action in .30'06 will be more powerful than a .35 Remington levergun, and will shoot flatter. BUT, it will be quite a bit slower, unless you're quite good with bolt actions.

Why not get the best of both worlds and buy a Winchester '95 lever action with a box magazine? These will chamber .30'06, and I believe Winchester is making them again. Unless I dreamed it, I saw one of these in .30'06 at the gun store recently, and I loved the way it handled. Teddy Roosevelt used this rifle, though the "big medicine" .405 WCF he used may be a *bit* much for ordinary hunting.
