how much did you pay to get the Garand rebarreled for .308
|
Springfield Armory M1 manufactured in 4/1944, Colt WWI reissue, Smith-Corona 03A3 made in 43.
I can't remember exactly how much it was when I bought it, now they are
$325 at Fulton Armory. I have the chrome lined one. You would have to check gun smiths in your area to find out how much the charge.
I really like the Garand, I also like the .308 as it is an inherently more accurate cartridge than the .30-06 and is currently used by our military. The .308 Win/7.62 NATO has broken every accuracy record set by the .30-06.
I also don't feel hampered by the 8 round capacity of the Garand. I have the cartridge belt which holds 10, 8 round en bloc clips and it is really fast to reload a Garand with a little practice. If I can't get the job done with a Garand and I'm on my own with no support, a 20-30 round magazine probably won't help. The Garand is also easier to shoot in the prone position.
