At $400, you are probably looking used. I got my carry gun (CZ-75BD in 9mm) for about $480 used at a gun shop near me. I would second the chorus of folks suggesting the p95- excellent weapon. I would also humbly suggest looking at a Sig p250- the modular design makes it easy to swicth calibers or sizes with the right X-change kit. You might want a full size .45 and a subcompact 9mm, and get the gun and conversion kit for a total investment of about $650. It's not a bad little gun, and makes switching calibers easy.

Armslist and Gunbroker may be your friend on this one...
