The Tasco world class scopes are very good for the money . I had the same issue when I bought my Ruger American rifle . Did not have the cash for a nice scope and a buddy pointed me to the Tasco world class scopes . http://www.amazon.com/Tasco-World-3-...d+class+3-9x40

Here are a couple of my targets I shot using the world class scope on my ruger 308 .

Another good cheep scope for a 22 is the simmons 22mag with the paralax adjustable objective .http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-3-9x32...=simmons+22mag

I would recommend the simmons for a 22 so you can adjust the paralax the tasco has a fixed paralax at 100yards . If your 10/22 is stainless the simmons comes in silver as well .http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-3-9x32...s+22mag+silver that price is a little on the high side right now . I've seen the silver ones for $80 as well
