Depends on how you look at.

This is more of a collector/shooter type of list. Call it, "The American Essentials"

M1 Garand
M1903 or A3 Springfield
M1 Carbine
AR15
M1911A1
Single Action Army Revolver

Additionally...
Something 12 Gauge
A revolver in .357 or at least .38


There are some types of firearms that are simply "iconic". Things a lover of guns simply must own an example of to be "complete".

Like an example of the classic American lever-action.

I don't know. I may not be articulating this well enough.
