Ranger1, based on the serial number you've posted the Colt 1911 you're describing was made in 1918. This should be a military Model 1911 made by Colt. The right side of the frame should be marked, "Model of 1911 U.S. Army" and the left side of the frame should have the following patent dates, "Patented Apr.20.1897. Sept.9.1902 Dec.19.1905 Feb.14.1911 Aug.19.1913". If this is the case in excellent condition it could be worth about $1,600-$2,300. Hope this helps!
