The folded carbon steel slides are not superior. They are a little lighter and some prefer that. I some ways the moderm milled stainless steel slide is superior including the ability to withstand the higher pressure rounds like the .40 and .357 SIG. It is nice to have a P229 that can shoot 9MM, .40, and .357
with barrel swaps.
