I'm no artist, but when I first looked at Doogle's pic the only gripe I had was the background wasn't very contrasting to the focused piece. It didn't provide great depth to me.
However, after looking it over again this time around, it really grew on me. Maybe a darker background wouldn't have provided full lighting potential to parts of the gun. Since most of the gun is polished with darker accented parts, I think I was wrong.
