For hog doggin' we wear headlights with red led, white led and an incandescent white. For the most part 75-90% of or use will be the red led. For 2 reasons, first it doesn't spook critters near as bad as a white light. Second is if you sweep a buddy he is not so blinded and when you douse the light you are not completely blinded. We flick on the white led for a little brighter look at tracks or to see if eyes glow if we think a critter is there. The regular bulb is needed if we need to see more than 25 feet ahead well as led is poor for distance in these small headlights.
