I also work in the industry. Demand is still through the roof. Manufacturer's capabilities are finite. It's simple math.
Some retailers are charging higher prices because they can't get a regular supply of wares, and they need to make money from existing inventory. Simple economics.
There's no need to read anything else into the situation.
