There are a few top trainers & programs out there.
I'd advise you or your bud take a 4 hr workshop or 1 day class to gauge the skill level & training methods first. Some instructors are better than others.
Well known gun & tactics school cadre do not comment or speak ill of other classes out o professional consideration but you can get input from students or learn who is good & who wants a warm body and a paycheck.
Ask for qualifications and sources that are something you can verify.
I've had great teachers & class trainers. I've also met firearm cadre I would not trust with a bag of marshmellows or a butter knife,
