After doing a lot of research over at Rimfire Central, I decided to try a Mueller 4.5-14x40 APV. Three years later, I have four of these scopes on my .22's and couldn't be happier. The glass and build quality on the APV is spectacular for a $125 scope.
I've got an APT on a 223 bolt gun, and have been pretty impressed with it for a budget optic. Glass is clear and stays clear even at higher power, and I really like the mildot reticle and target turret design. Another 10x that I've really liked is the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x. It's a great, budget mildot scope that is capable of being a serious scope if you ever want to put it on a bigger caliber. I ran mine on a Savage 308 that was a 1000 yard gun and wasn't disappointed. I like too that it's a mil/mil scope if you want to go that route, though they also have a mil/moa model.
