I think I used 4.5gr bullseye with 38spl shot caps. Works awesome on snakes, and kills quail too. Course I wasn't shooting them at 15 feet, either. I walk up to them and shoot them at a distance that is both safe and effective. I didn't have to get as close to them as I do when I kill them with a shovel, and one shot always knocked the crap out of them. I'm always impressed at how good a job it does.
