A guy at a local gun show was selling something called a "Snipod." It was three wooden rods, tied together just above midpoint, with another cord wrapped around the longer end at the tips, held with a clasp. The short end had rubber tubing around the wood to protect a rifle. The "Snipod" legs spread out to your needed height/stability needs, or closes so that you can stick it in your rifle case/backpack. I started looking at it, and decided that it wasn't worth the $25 asking price. I just finished mine and used it. It took $7 in parts, and it's the coolest looking, most easily deployable, lightest, and sturdiest field-rest I've ever seen. This thing makes the Harris bi-pod a joke.
It took:
1 36" x 5/8" wooden rod from Home Depot
1.5' of 5/8" heater hose from Auto-Zone
4' of parachute cord from the local army surplus
3 5/8" rubber end caps from Home Depot
Black paint
A small drill bit w/drill
Medium intelligence

Just thought you guys would like to know...if you want a picture, let me know, I'll take a pic of it.
