I have a few USGI mags that work well. Often I see steel 1911 mags on a shelf at gun shops. I haven't had any problems with these mags as far as feeding 'n such.

What I do want and demand, is a mag that will fall from the gun under its own weight when the mag release is pushed.

What I do, is ask the clerk (and they've never turned me down) to try the mags in my 1911s to see that they fall from the gun while empty. Most do, and those are the ones I buy. As far as feeding, all steel mags seem to work with my 230 grn RN cast bullets. I think the average price I pay is about $9 a piece, sometimes cheaper.

I like lots of magazines. Sometimes they get worn out, which means they pop a round out with you jam the mag into the gun. They do that once, I trash them.
