The Canadian Centennial was made in 1967 as you have identified.
The fine old all-milled guns were made prior to 1964.
Winchester started putting some quality back in in 1968.
The Canadian Centennial and a lot of those other gaudy commemoratives were built on the most cheapened version of the 94 action.
That said, a friend had one that shot like a champ and he didn't mind the stamped lifter and other cost cutters. Apparently they did not cut corners on barrel quality. I don't know about $600 but prices are up all over.
