I noticed the same thing with my Sako (7REMMAG). Talked to tech from Sierra and was told that they actually got better results with short throated chambers. With magnums, you will burn out the leade soon enough. Then you can have your smith ream the worn throat out a bit. If it shoots OK I'd leave it be.
