wc 846 = big flash and bang!

FWIW

I loaded some 110 grain Hornady SP for my .308 LTR 20" barrel.
I used wc846 50.5 grains (Max load was 52.0 for BL-C2).
Federal Gold medal brass 2.005
Winchester WLR primers (3 magnum 3 regular)
2.65 OAL
Min OAL 2.53

Both the mag and regular primers chronied out at 3100 fps
The listed fps was 3181 for 52.0 grains of BL-C2 (barrel length not listed) I assume it's for 24" barrel.

This load is a little too hot for the 20" barrel. I was a bit startled to see the big orange flash and big recoil.

I shot the same 110 gr SP using
47.5 grains of IMR 4895 pulldown
WLR primers
Federal goldmedal brass 2.005
2.65 OAL

chronied out at 3200fps
The max 4895 load was listed at 49.0 grains giving 3130 fps
Min OAL 2.60

This load of 4895 had less recoil and hardly any visible flash compared to the load of the wc846.

By the sound and flash the wc846 created I would've thought the velocity of those loads would have been higher than the 4895.
