No 50 AEs on the range, but that is just because of how it effects others shooting on the range, not penetration.
Oh, I always thought it was a penetration issue. But what you say makes sense. Anyone who has ever tried to shoot a bullseye .22 next to someone shooting a ported magnum in an indoor range knows what you mean. Amazing how fast you can develop a flinch from someone ELSE's gun!
