You did well considering--and though Maine is far from Bama--I have NEVER seen a spring season with so few birds around--normally the island is lousy with them and I see and hear them all the time, especially on the piece of land that I use to shoot at. The only animals that I see that obviously made it through the winter OK are the deer; they have over-run the island (cause locals don't want to scare off tourist--they can't be hunted). I've only seen a few hens and young jakes--and of all places a couple of OK toms near my house--but that's it. I'm beginning to wonder if some kind of sickness may have hit them.

Anyway, we also have a fall season--maybe the numbers will recover by then.
