I counsel to never pull a breech plug, save in extreme, extreme situations.

Rather, just wipe down the bore to/including the very bottom with a liberally-oiled patch
on either a traditional or slotted jag (through the slot/folded over the tip).

Any gun oil will do -- but Hornady 1-Shot is unsurpassed for rust protection.
