It kind of depends on the cap and ball load.
A full one from a Walker or a light one from a .36.
If this is any clue,
I use 3/8" thick steel targets (Birchwood Casey World of Targets for center fire) with 200 grain .45s at 850 f/s and there's nary a mark on them, other than some paint damage.
Hard to imagine a 1/16th inch less thickness would matter.
