.44 Special ... hard to find factory ammo that matched the ballistics of the even 45 ACP. It is a dandy cartridge all the same and a real go-getter if you handload it.
That's the key. The .44 Special and .45 Colt are reloader cartridges and I won't be caught without either. My .44Mag revolvers just takes a back seat and once in a while go for a ride. Same with the .45ACP in my convertibles. Might say they are just wanabees in my stable .

If I want more I will not go to a 44Mag but To a 480R
I like your way of thinking.... I'd say the .454C though.... which I don't have, or ever will need as long as I reload for .45 Colt.
A clinger. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. Single Action .45 Colt (Sometimes improperly referred to by its alias as the .45 'Long' Colt or .45LC). Don't leave home without it. Ok.... the .44Spec is growing on me ... but the .45 Colt is still king.
