Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The scientific literature is full of studies supporting that conclusion. Here's one from the World Health Organization:, but a little Googling will find many more. (The WHO study actually deals with lead exposure from PVC window frames, but if you scroll down to the first paragraph of the text, you'll see that their summary statement regarding lead uptake is pretty much the same thing I said).

Because kids are so much more sensitive to lead exposure I'd still keep them from handling the stuff, but adults don't have much to worry about.
