Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.
Um, no. There are plenty of other ways. Love for example is neither reason nor force and really a rejection of both many times. Dealing in absolutes has certain pitfalls.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunken guys with baseball bats.

The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.
I would say a 100 pound woman very lightly trained and armed with a rapier or katana will ruin a would be 220 pound rapist's day. The gun could be a heck of a lot more effective though.

There are a few other problems with the essay but he makes some good points.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.
