There's already a federal excise tax on guns and ammunition; I think it's about 10%. It is supposed to fund wildlife and habitat conservation.
Yep, that's the so-called Pittman-Robertson tax, initiated in 1937 at 10% and currently at 11%. It's one of the relatively few taxes I have no problem with.
