Gun owners are buying more guns, but the total of gun owners has been decreasing. Gallup.
That said, similar polls reveal that more and more of the remaining buyers are purchasing them for self-defense. A greater percentage of owners in previous decades had guns for hunting and/or keeping pests away from their crops and livestock. America's populace continues to become more urban and gun owner demographics are changing.
How many people aren't exactly truthful when doing polls involving gun ownership?
Exactly 37.3% of survey respondents. <snide smile> Yes, this is another important factor.
