He wasn't correcting your terminology; "slide release" is a perfectly acceptable term. His point, and I agree, was that you shouldn't use it as a slide release because the slingshot method is a much more reliable way to do it under stress, whether you're right or left-handed.
Thanks for the "explanation of the correction" :-) . I got a little confused because indeed a lot of folks here use the term "slide release", but now I got what he meant.
