I have been able to shoot the Rowland conversion a few times though I do not own one. The gun that I fired was a 1911.
It is a peppy cartridge, that much is obvious. I have used .45 Supers in my own 1911 and, even with the compensator on the Rowland, recoil was as or more brisk (subjective, I know). The loads used were hand loads. I do not know the particulars.
