I said to go with Colt simply because it's a good value for the future. Colts tend to appreciate or hold their used-gun value pretty well.

Since you've narrowed the field, I wonder if you rejected the S&W 1911 series for any specific reason. I have one of the older 1911SC lightweight .45 ACP "Commander" pistols and it's a slick shooter.

Current 1911SC E-Series pistols have the bobbed frame and enough features to please a lot of folks.
